JT’s STORY
Many people wonder where the name Jessica Tuesday’s originates. After working many years in the restaurant industry and building loyal clientele, I took some time off to raise my family. Shortly thereafter, I returned to work one night a week at a local bar, which just to happened to be on Tuesdays. During this short time, my past and new customers began referring to me as “Jessica Tuesday”. So, when my dreams were realized and I was able to open a restaurant of my own, it was a natural fit.
Our journey began in 2003 when I purchased the historic Adams Express Building. A perpetual reminder of the importance of the railroad and the town’s historical significance, it once served as part of Putnam’s train station. Just as the railroad turned Putnam into an economic center in the 1900’s, the town’s restaurants have turned it into a budding culinary hub in the 2000’s.
Livestock contracts and postcards, dated back to 1897, were discovered in the rafters during renovations. They are on display here as part of our décor as a reminder of this building’s true charm. Still visible are the worn architectural columns, where horses and livestock were tethered in preparation to be transported on the railcars.
I was intent on contributing to the emerging culinary scene. Starting out as a market deli specializing in soups, salads and sandwiches, we have continued to grow and expand the business with each passing year based on customer feedback and demand. Our chef-inspired menu is driven by the market and season. We pride ourselves in serving the highest quality food by purchasing fresh, local produce and local farm-raised products. We utilize organic vegetables grown in JT’s very own garden adjacent to the train tracks. In addition to great food and service, our cocktails are original and made with trendy ingredients including house-infused liquors.
JT’s is not only a unique and beautiful place to meet friends, our magnificent outdoor patio and the only outdoor bar in Putnam draws guests to dine alfresco with fireside tables. Our philosophy reads, “For a restaurant to be truly incredible, great food must compliment great service.”
We look forward to creating a memorable dining experience for all who join us.
